Arkas Art Alsancak invites art enthusiasts to a unique artistic journey, spanning from the early 19th century to the 1940s, where brushstrokes intersect with fabric textures, through its exhibition “Fashion & Painting / Mode & Peinture” which has opened its doors.
The exhibition “Fashion & Painting / Mode & Peinture” presents the evolution and social codes of European fashion as reflected through the mirror of art. Bringing together works from the Arkas Collection and the collection of the French costume archive La Dame d’Atours, the exhibition explores the deep connection between painting and fashion.
The costumes featured in the exhibition, meticulously reproduced in faithful adherence to the techniques of their respective periods, bring the spirit of the figures in the paintings into the physical world. Complemented by antique accessories, this selection not only presents a history of attire, but also provides visitors with an entirely new perspective for understanding the historical and sociological context of the paintings.
“Fashion & Painting” welcomes all art enthusiasts who wish to explore the history of elegance—from the folds of fabric to the strokes of the brush—to Arkas Sanat Alsancak until July 26, 2026.
