Arkas Line has successfully completed the shipment of 129 x 40’ reefer containers from two Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in the Delhi region and one ICD in Kanpur to the ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra using three block trains, marking a first for its India operations. Each train carried 43 containers, consolidating cargo from multiple inland origins into a single vessel shipment and marking a notable and rare operational milestone in India’s container transportation sector.
Expanding beyond port-centric services in India, Arkas Line continues to offer integrated logistics solutions extending deep into the hinterland. In this operation, block train departures were organized from two ICDs in the Delhi region and one ICD in Kanpur. A total of 129 reefer containers were transported via three block trains, each carrying 43 units of 40’ reefer containers, to the ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra, where they were consolidated for shipment on a single vessel. The operation demonstrates excellence in end-to-end planning and seamless cargo flow coordination.
Strong coordination in reefer logistics
Tümay Ulutaş, India Country Director of Arkas Line, who attended the train departure ceremony together with representatives of Parekh Marine, Arkas Line’s local agent, emphasized that timing, equipment reliability, and operational synchronization play a critical role in temperature-controlled cargo logistics. He noted that coordinating reefer block trains departing simultaneously from three different locations and their seamless integration with port operations represents a rare and complex achievement in India’s container logistics sector. Ulutaş stated, “This operation reflects Arkas Line’s ability to deliver not only transportation capacity, but also advanced coordination, reliable flow management, and solution-oriented logistics expertise to its customers.”
An integrated sea–rail logistics network in India
With its continued expansion in India, Arkas Line is strengthening its global service network and establishing a strategic logistics corridor between the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, and India. Operating under its India Med Service (IMS), the company provides services through the ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra. By linking these ports with inland commercial hubs via rail connections, Arkas Line offers an integrated sea–rail logistics solution that enhances accessibility and efficiency across the supply chain. The company’s India operations are supported by inland connectivity to key locations such as Dadri and Kanpur, significantly improving operational efficiency, particularly for time-sensitive and temperature-controlled cargo flows.
