As part of the Arkas Aegeanlink Regatta events, the Fungistanbul “Instrument-Making Workshop with Waste” was a significant step towards raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability. In this workshop, children experienced the creative applications of upcycling by making musical instruments from waste materials such as bottles, caps, tin cans, and rubber bands. Transforming waste into an artistic form not only provided participants with a fun experience but also taught them the importance of upcycling and reducing the environmental impact of waste.
Fungistanbul’s performance, using instruments made entirely from waste, contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals such as “Responsible Consumption and Production” (SDG 12) and “Climate Action” (SDG 13), while also offering children a new perspective on how they can contribute to a sustainable future. This workshop, conducted in line with Arkas Line’s sustainability vision, demonstrated how the combination of art and upcycling not only promotes an eco-friendly lifestyle but also shows how sustainability awareness can be spread through creative methods.
