As a subsidiary of Arkas Holding, Arkas Logistics has played a significant role in the relocation operations of another major project. A total of 253 pieces of ground service equipment have been moved from Adana Airport to Cukurova International Airport. The relocation was completed in four hours, which is eight hours ahead of schedule.
Arkas Logistics, which previously managed the relocation from Atatürk Airport to Istanbul Airport, has now successfully fulfilled another airport transportation. Following comprehensive planning, the relocation was meticulously calculated to the last detail, with Arkas Logistics acting as the logistics engineer.
“A total of 78 vehicles were used, and 275 personnel were assigned to the project”
Arkas Logistics has assigned 275 personnel and used 78 vehicles for relocating the ground service equipment belonging to Turkish Ground Services (TGS Yer Hizmetleri A.S.).
Arkas Logistics moved a total of 253 pieces of ground service equipment, varying in size and weight, to Cukurova International Airport using 40 container carriers, 31 heavy-load lowbeds, three bus carriers, and four standard tow trucks.
The company put cranes each weighing 250 metric tons at Adana Airport and Cukurova International Airport. Furthermore, special ramps were designed for the problem-free and quick loading of heavy loads on lowbeds.
“534,250 kilograms of cargo transported”
The teams of Arkas Logistics prepared for days to ensure the seamless transportation of a total of 534,250 kilograms of cargo, occupying an area of 2,247 m². They were able to complete the project without issues by making detailed calculations and conducting trial transports. If we lined up the transported loads end to end, they would stretch 1,121 meters.
“An airport relocation just in four hours”
The airport transportation, initially planned to be completed in 12 hours, was finished in just 4 hours. For any emergency interventions needed during the 36-kilometer journey, Arkas Logistics had three fully-equipped repair vehicles and expert teams on standby. Vehicles were tracked in real time by the Traffic Monitoring and Operations Center (AR-TIM) headquartered in Istanbul.
