The Monreve Library in the Arkas Life Center, which supports earthquake victims in Iskenderun, continues to expand with the assistance of Izmir residents.
Monreve Group initiated a campaign with the slogan “1 Book from You, 1 Book from Us on the Anniversary of the Earthquake” to expand the library, established in the Arkas Life Center in Iskenderun one year ago, commemorating the anniversary of the catastrophic event.
A book donation unit was established in Montiano at Mistral Izmir for the campaign that will brighten the lives of young earthquake victims. Business partners and guests were urged to donate books to the Monreve Library. Monreve Group, which purchases a book for every book collected, has expanded the Monreve Library with 4000 new books. Thus, a total of 7500 books from various genres were made available to fulfill the learning and socialization needs of children and adults in the region.
The books collected and purchased as part of the campaign were transported to Iskenderun through the collaboration of Monreve Group and Arkas Art. Arkas Art instructors organized art workshops for children aged 5-18 residing in the region. Approximately 100 children participated in the workshops organized to contribute to children’s imagination and enable them to explore their creativity. Workshop participants, along with a total of 250 children who were unable to attend but expressed interest in showcasing their creativity, received canvases and paint sets. Merve Arkas, Monreve Group Chairman of the Board, expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the campaign’s success, stating, “With the support of the people of Izmir, we will continue to impact the lives of our children and be a source of hope and light for them.”
