The DITAS Shipping management and accompanying delegation visited Izmir to examine Arkas Bunker’s sustainable marine fuel processes on-site. The visit focused on the operational structure and quality procedures involved in the transition to sustainable marine fuels, as well as on the cooperation between the two institutions.
DITAS Shipping General Manager Hakan Karaca and the accompanying delegation came to Izmir on November 13 to take a closer look at the sustainable marine fuel supply processes carried out with Arkas Bunker. The program began with a visit by the Arkas Bunker and DITAS Shipping teams to the DB Tarımsal Torbali facility. Hosted by DB Tarımsal Enerji A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Selcuk Borovali, detailed information was provided on the sustainable marine fuel production processes, the functioning of the chain, and the quality control steps.
Afterwards, at the meeting hosted by Arkas Bunker at Lucien Arkas Vineyards, the requirements of sustainable fuel usage in the maritime sector, operational integration frameworks, and supply chain traceability processes were addressed. Participants included Arkas Bunker General Manager Seckin Gul, Sales and Trade Manager Oytun Karatas, Sustainability Manager Erdinc Altun, Executive Assistant Asli Darendeli, as well as DITAS Shipping General Manager Hakan Karaca, Vessel Operations Director Fatih Er, Strategy and Sustainability Manager Can Atilgan, Contracting and Procurement Manager Senem Calik, and Vessel Operations Deck Inspector Ihsan Karabacak.
As the first company in Türkiye to receive the ISCC EU certification for marine fuels, Arkas Bunker provided the DITAS Shipping team with technical insights into the sustainable marine fuel supply chain, from production to delivery, while the DITAS side shared assessments based on their operational experience and needs.
The meetings focused on the technical functioning of the current cooperation, process efficiency, and the latest practices in integrating sustainable fuels into operations. Throughout the discussions, the importance of strong inter-institutional coordination in the maritime sector’s transition toward low-carbon fuels was emphasized.
The visit enabled a comprehensive evaluation of the ongoing collaboration between Arkas Bunker and DITAS Shipping in field operations, and also highlighted the strength of mutual technical alignment and the shared focus on sustainability.
