Arkas Sailing Team Takes Second Overall at Palermo–Montecarlo 2025!

Arkas Sailing Team achieved significant success at the Palermo–Montecarlo, one of the most prestigious offshore races in the Mediterranean, securing second place in the Line Honours, ORC, and IRC categories.

Held between August 19–24, 2025, the 20th edition of the Palermo–Montecarlo regatta covered a 437-nautical-mile route from Mondello (Palermo) to Monaco. In the contest featuring 41 boats, teams reached the finish line after passing through the Porto Cervo gate.

Strong Performance on a Challenging Course

Hosted by Circolo della Vela Sicilia and organized in collaboration with Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and Yacht Club de Monaco, the regatta started on Tuesday, August 19, from Mondello. The teams faced a serious test of endurance, particularly in the Corsican waters where winds exceeded 30 knots and cross waves added to the challenge.

Three Podium Finishes with Arkas Blue Moon

With consistent pace and flawless teamwork throughout the regatta, Arkas Sailing Team, competing on the Arkas Blue Moon (TP52, TUR 3535) boat, reached the finish line in second place by making the right choices in speed and route during crucial parts of the race. As a result, the team earned second place in the Line Honours overall ranking, second place in the ORC overall ranking, and second place in the IRC (Gate Porto Cervo) class, achieving podium finishes in three separate categories.

This year, Black Jack 100 took first place in Line Honours and set a new course record, while Manticore won the IRC overall classification. With Arkas Line as the main sponsor, Arkas Sailing Team’s second place in Line Honours stood out as a major achievement in a tough fleet of competitors.

“Team Synchronization Led to Success”

Arkas Sailing Team skipper Serhat Altay stated, “In high winds and rough sea conditions, managing time correctly during critical transitions was just as important as maintaining the boat’s balance and speed. Thanks to our team synchronization, we earned podium finishes in three different categories. We aim to maintain this momentum in the remaining offshore and coastal races of the season.”
