Egekont, operating under the umbrella of the Arkas Maritime Group, received two awards at the Grimaldi Excellence Awards 2026. Having served as Grimaldi Group’s agent in Türkiye for 30 years, Egekont was honored with the Agents Award as well as a Special Award in recognition of its 30-year partnership with the Group. At the ceremony held on the Italian island of Sardinia, the awards were presented to Bernard Arkas, Vice President of Arkas Holding, by Eugenio Grimaldi, Head of Short Sea North/South Lines at the Grimaldi Group.
The Grimaldi Excellence Awards 2026, which recognize the business partners of Grimaldi Group in the maritime and logistics sectors, were held as part of the 27th Euromed Convention in Sardinia on 25 September. At the ceremony, where partnerships developed in line with shared objectives of growth, innovation, and sustainability were evaluated, Egekont received the award in the Agents category. In addition, Egekont was presented with the 30th Anniversary Special Award in recognition of its partnership with Grimaldi Group, which began in 1996 and reached its 30th year this year.
30-Year Agency Partnership with Grimaldi
Established in 1990 under the Arkas Maritime Group, Egekont has been serving as the Türkiye agent of the Naples-based Grimaldi Group since 1996. Through Grimaldi’s international service network, Egekont connects Türkiye with Europe, the Mediterranean, the Adriatic, the Baltic Sea, North and West Africa, and North and South America. The company provides import and export customers with transportation services for passenger and commercial vehicles, trailers, construction equipment, and project cargo.
The cooperation between the two companies continues to develop through Grimaldi Group’s investments in its Türkiye-connected services. Following the expansion of the Trieste-Ambarlı Ro-Ro service, launched in 2024, with connections to Gemlik and Patras, transportation capacity between Türkiye, Greece, and Italy was further increased in 2025 with the deployment of a fourth vessel. As Grimaldi’s agent in Türkiye, Egekont continues to support the Türkiye connections of the group’s international services.
