At the traditional bicycle festival, Piri Reis students pedaled to raise awareness about forest fires. With the donated saplings, they laid the foundation for the “Piri Reis Coppice Forest”.
The traditional bicycle festival “PiriSiklet,” organized by Private Piri Reis Schools to instill a love for sports in their students, was held for the 16th time at Inciraltı Urban Forest. This year, approximately 540 participants – including students from the Guzelbahce and Karsiyaka campuses, along with their parents and teachers – pedaled to draw attention to the burning forests.
Before the festival, held under the slogan “With Every Pedal, We Plant a Sapling”, parents donated saplings to the Aegean Forest Foundation to establish the Piri Reis Coppice Forest. Students from grades one through six, divided into 10 groups according to their age, pedaled on either a short or a long course. First and second graders enjoyed pedaling with their form teachers on the short course, while the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders took a guided tour around Inciralti Lagoon with their school counselors. Filled with colorful scenes, the festival concluded at noon.
