Arkas Bunker, a member of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), participated in IBIA’s annual event in London for 2025. At the meeting, the company engaged with industry stakeholders to discuss fuel prices, sustainability and the increasing focus on green fuels.
The IBIA annual meeting, which aims to strengthen relationships among its members, welcomed Arkas Bunker once again as a regular participant. This year, the company also took part as an advertising sponsor. At the event, Arkas Bunker General Manager, Seckin Gul and Sales & Trade Manager Oytun Karakas met with business partners, clients and industry stakeholders.
Sharing his insights from the meetings held during International Energy Week (IE Week), Arkas Bunker General Manager Seckin Gul stated “As Arkas Bunker, we are extremely proud and happy, both for our country and company, to have carried out Türkiye’s first biofuel bunkering last May as the first fuel supply company in Türkiye to receive the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU). This allowed us to test biofuel on our own vessels. We have introduced our biofuel, named Bio24F, not only for use not only on Arkas Line vessels but also for the use of other shipowners. Together, we have witnessed the highly positive characteristics of our fuel. In fact, one of the world’s leading shipowners, Yang Ming, chose to proceed with us for a second bunkering operation. Sustainability and green fuels were the focal points of this event, just as they are globally. The adoption of biofuels in the maritime sector is emerging as a crucial step toward sustainability. The transition to environmentally friendly alternatives capable of replacing fossil fuels offers a significant opportunity to cut carbon emissions. In Türkiye, pioneering initiatives undertaken with the support of relevant authorities and our company indicate the start of a transformation in the sector,” he stated.
Since its founding in 1992, IBIA has gathered members from 68 countries, encompassing shipowners, operators, fuel suppliers, brokers, port officials, storage providers and reporting agencies.
