The Fastest Carbon Dioxide Increase in History: Recorded from Antarctica

Scientists from the US and St Andrews University have documented the fastest carbon dioxide increase in the last 50,000 years by studying ancient ice in Antarctica. The findings show that the rate of increase in carbon dioxide, driven by human emissions, is “unprecedented.” Researchers found that the level of carbon dioxide increased by about 14 million parts over 55 years, with the largest increases occurring in just five to six years.
