The Contemporary Arts Foundation (CAGSAV) has announced the winners of this year’s honorary awards, which are presented to pioneering institutions and master artists. Arkas Art Center has received the CAGSAV Corporate Honorary Award given to pioneering institutions in contemporary art.
As part of the celebrations for the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic, CAGSAV has hosted a series of events, including an exhibition, a panel discussion, and the honorary awards ceremony, at Divan Cukurhan in Ankara Castle and the Rahmi M. Koc Museum’s Safranhan Exhibition Hall. Since 2001, the CAGSAV Honorary Award has been recognizing leading institutions in contemporary art, and for 2024, Arkas Art Center was chosen as the recipient. The award was presented to Mujde Unustasi, Arkas Art Center Director, during a special ceremony. According to the official award statement, “Arkas Art Center is a pioneering institution that showcases works by renowned Turkish and international artists, as well as significant collections from important museums and cultural institutions. It has made valuable contributions to the artistic and cultural life of our country, particularly in Izmir. Arkas Art Center shares Izmir’s cultural identity with the global art community and, through its efforts to make art accessible to everyone, has built a contemporary art collection that is both high-quality and inclusive.”
Artist Nevhiz Tanyeli has been granted the CAGSAV Honorary Award of 2024 for individual achievement. The award ceremony coincided with a panel discussion titled “The Impact and Contributions of the Republic on Art, Culture, and Social Life ” and the opening of the CAGSAV Collection Exhibition.
