Arkas B Team Captain Asici Receives the Season’s First “White Card”

The first White Card of 2023 in the “White Card, Fair Play, Good Behavior Project” launched last year by the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) within the scope of Fair Play was awarded to Arkas Mini Volleyball B team captain Buse Asici. When the head referee had difficulty in making a decision, in the game against Efor Genclik A in Izmir Mini Volleyball, Asici displayed an honest behavior when she stated that the ball went out of her hand. 

In the Fair Play “White Card” project initiated by TVF to instill honesty and sportsmanship in young players,Arkas youth player Buse Asici received the first “White Card” of this season. In the first set of the game between Arkas-B team and Efor Genclik A team in Izmir Mini Volleyball competitions, the head referee had difficulty deciding whether the ball went out of the block or not. Then Arkas B captain Buse Asici said that she touched the ball last, which was then confirmed by her coach Devrim Bilgekay. Thus, the point was granted to the opposing team. Captain Asici’s behavior was rewarded with a White Card by the match referee Bahadir Cavus. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for Arkas Mini Volleyball B team.

About White Card

In the project, which was piloted in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, Konya, Diyarbakır provinces in the 2022-2023 Season, during a game when a player exhibits a behavior categorized as a “good behavior” in guidelines, the Head Referee calls the player to the side and shows a White Card for good behavior. The match observer records the card and submits the form to the provincial representative at the end of the match. At the end of the season, the athletes and teams with the most “White Cards” are awarded with a White Card (Fair Play) Certificate.
