Full Speed Ahead for Arkas Fleet
Boasting the largest container vessel fleet in Türkiye, Arkas is adding three more container vessels to its fleet. With the newly acquired vessels, the company has increased its total number of container vessels to 50, while also boosting its TEU capacity by 4,101, reaching 87,335.
Leveraging Arkas Holding’s 76 years of experience in international transportation, Arkas Line, which has the largest container vessel fleet in Türkiye, provides weekly liner services on a regular basis between the ports in the Black Sea, Mediterranean, and West Africa using its own operated vessels. By adding three new vessels to its fleet, Arkas Line has solidified its leading position in maritime transportation, which is the driving force in Turkish foreign trade.
The German-made vessels were acquired from MPC Container Ships, a Norwegian container operator. These vessels, namely ÖYKÜ A with a capacity of 1,221 TEU, ONUR G with 1,440 TEU, and DENIS A with 1,440 TEU, have collectively contributed to Arkas increasing its TEU capacity by 4,101 to reach 87,335. With 35 weekly services and calls at 68 ports worldwide, Arkas Line strengthens its services by adding vessels to some of its weekly routes.
Boasting a fleet of 50 container vessels with recent acquisitions, the vessel fleet of Arkas also includes 6 bunker barges and 1 bulk cargo vessel.
Environmental Transformation
While actively contributing to Turkish foreign trade, Arkas Line is committed to fostering a more sustainable world for future generations through technical and operational enhancements that are in line with Arkas Group’s sustainability goals.
Taking proactive measures to replace older vessels with low CII performance in compliance with new regulations, Arkas Line has achieved a reduction of more than 21% in emissions since the 2011 baseline. The ambitious target is to further cut emissions by 30% through operational improvements by 2025.
