World Art Day “Wallace Hartley” Awards were presented to their winners in the ceremony held at Istanbul Piramid Sanat. Selected as the “Art Institution of the Year”, Arkas Art Center received their award from author Vecdi Sayar. Participating in the ceremony, Arkas Holding President Lucien Arkas expressed that they aim to popularize art further in the society.
The ceremony was co-presented by Bedri Baykam and Nebahat Karyagdi, President and Board Member of the International Association of Plastic Arts. Arkas Holding President Lucien Arkas and Arkas Art Center Director Mujde Unustasi also attended the ceremony. Having committed to making art accessible and instilling a love of art in new generations since 2011, the Arkas Art Center was deemed worthy of the “Art Institution of the Year” award.
Speaking at the ceremony, Arkas Holding President Lucien Arkas expressed their gratitude for the award, stating that they aim to endear and popularize arts in the whole society, and instill love of arts at young ages. Arkas Art Center Director Mujde Unustasi also marked that They opened 22 national and international exhibitions in 10 years and hosted 500,000 visitors in ten years. Unustasi extended their thanks for this 10th year-specific award. Bedri Baykam, the President of the International Association of Plastic Arts, referred to the many important exhibitions organized by the Arkas Art Center. Baykam said “We would like to extend our thanks to Arkas Art Center, and its esteemed founder, Lucien Arkas, for bringing modern art experience at uttermost quality to the Aegean Region, through ambitious national and international exhibitions opened one after another and accompanied with permanent publications.
Following the speeches, the “Art Institution of the Year” award was granted to Arkas Art Center by Author Vecdi Sayar. This was the third award received by Arkas Art Center in 10 years. Previously, the art center was granted the “The Alaeddin Asna Award for Coherency and Continuity in Corporate Responsibility”, and the first place award in the “Best Art Institution” category in the 10th Social Media Awards of Istanbul Technical University’s Management Engineering Club.
