Limar Port and Ship Operators S.A., a company of the Port and Terminal Operators Group of Arkas, has successfully launched the Integrated Management System, which aims to contribute to the company’s sustainability concept regarding the port operations in Izmir. Following a preparation period of 5 months, Limar has been audited by the Italian Lloyd RINA and, thus, certified with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 for Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety.
Limar started working on the Integrated Management System in April this year. Our company’s goal was to achieve the establishment of internationally recognized and sustainable ISO standards to comply with legal regulations. In this context, the aim of this project has been to manage port activities in Izmir more efficiently and with higher quality, to increase customer satisfaction, as well as to create a healthier, safer and more eco-friendly work environment for our employees and all our stakeholders. The first stage of the Integrated Management System project has been completed after a current situation analysis conducted by the project team, the installation of the QDMS (Quality Document Management System) software following the analysis, and standard trainings given to inform the user. All related documents (procedures, policies, instructions, process flow charts etc.) have been integrated into the system, performance indicators for managing corporate goals have been set, lastly, risk and opportunity analyses have been carried out to create a corporate memory by applying the change management methodology. At the final stage of the project, internal audits were completed and a Management Review Meeting was held in August under the leadership of the Senior Management.
Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, built within the scope of continuous improvement by Limar, were inspected by the external auditing firm RINA in September 2021. As a result of the audit conducted by RINA, Limar has received the internationally recognized ISO9001 (Quality Management System), ISO14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) certificates and brought its understanding of sustainable management and quality to the next level by establishing the Integrated Management System.
